Caldbeck Nursery is maintained and run by unpaid volunteer trustees of a registered charitable incorporated organisation CIO also called Caldbeck Nursery.
We are proud that as a non-profit making charity, all the money we receive goes directly towards creating an exceptionally high quality educational
experience for the children attending the setting. The strong partnership between staff and trustees help the nursery to continually develop and improve facilities.
Our modern purpose built nursery is situated in the picturesque village of Caldbeck on the northern edge of the Lake District National Park.
We are conveniently located for many surrounding areas. Just 8 miles from Wigton and Dalston and 13 miles from Penrith and Carlisle.
Places are available to all preschool children once they are two years old.
We are not restricted by catchment areas and have previously welcomed many children from places such as Wigton, Uldale, Mungrisdale and Bolton Low Houses. Children may progress to any primary school from this nursery.
Children with varied needs can be accommodated in this spacious setting.
OFSTED report September 2017: Good
“The leadership and management are strong and well embedded.”
“Children are widely independent from a young age. They are seen washing and drying their hands, requiring no support, and know to place the wet paper towels in the bin. Children relish the opportunity to help at snack time and carry out tasks.
Partnerships in place with parents are strong. Staff value parents’ contributions and use these to inform topics, activities and assessments. Parents speak very positively about the nursery, commenting on the good support they receive from staff.
Children are very well behaved and demonstrate good listening and attention skills. They play cooperatively with their peers and develop good social skills.”
